Some weddings happen in daylight. Praveen and Shrika chose the night — and the night chose them back. The venue was draped in warm amber, string lights tracing every archway, every corner glowing like something remembered rather than lived. There was a stillness to it, even with three hundred people filling the hall. What struck us first was how calm they both were. Not the calm of people performing calm — the real kind. The kind that comes from knowing you're exactly where you're supposed to be. Praveen stood at the mandap and watched Shrika walk toward him. He didn't look at her dress, or the flowers, or the camera. He looked at her face. Just her face. The whole time. Shrika told us afterward: "I was nervous until I saw him. And then I wasn't." That's the whole film, really. Two people steadying each other without saying a word. The reception spilled outdoors under the Salem sky. Old friends told stories. Children ran between tables. Her father danced without being asked. His mother cried, then laughed at herself for crying. We filmed what we always film — not the wedding, but the people inside it. The way love looks when it's not trying to look like anything. Praveen and Shrika's film is quieter than most. But quiet is its own kind of beautiful.
